The Ultimate Tuvix Shitpost

Read Time:2 Minute, 20 Second

This Tuvix debate is about the life of one mistakenly created person being more valuable than the cost of two other people’s lives. But there is actually a greater cost, the safety of the ship and its crew. With loosing one life over two with significantly mitigating dire circumstances of which all three persons lives would still be on the line. Many also forget to take into account the ship and crew members lives dependent on tuvok and Nelix as separate individuals.

Tuvok as a tactician and Neelix as alien safe food chef and trade ambassador / liaison / scout / morale officer were more vital than an emotionally compromised amalgamation that while having crew bridge officer ranks should have known his duty as a bridge officer is to the ship. This is straight out of Bridge Officer’s Test as shown on TNG Episode 7×16 Thine Own Self.

During the Bridge Officer’s Test, Deanna Troi is trying to pass the test. In the holodeck simulation each time the ship is about to be destroyed and the only way to save it is to sacrifice the life of a crew member, in this case the simulcrum of ship Engineer Geordi La Forge. That is the difficult choice a bridge officer has to make. To know that the ship comes first over any single crew member. So in order to pass to become a bridge officer Troi must order holo Geordie to his death, for the good of the whole ship and crew. That is Star Fleet code. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few. And Captain Janeway is the highest order bridge officer on the crew. She is the arbiter of quick decisions that relate the the safety of the ship and the then the vital crew in that order.

If they could have then they should have duplicated Tuvix. But what happens to the duplicate Tuvix? Does he not die the same to bring back the lives of two other people. Someone was going to cease to be and the trolly car here isn’t just two lives vs one. It’s two crew members who served vitally different jobs on a ship with limited knowledge and resources to a return home mission that already has them missing key and vital crew members from deaths while traveling. Janeway, with her limited scope of knowledge to the extent of the trip through the delta quadrant they had left, and the known bridge officer knowledge of the simple cold calculus made what her Star Fleet training and status of a Bridge Officer Demanded of her.

Tuvix had to die for the safety of the ship and the rest of its limited crew.

So is the heavy head that command has to wear

Thats why she split that bitch.
